Bruce Lee vs UFC fighters?

My question is a great fighter like Bruce Lee in our time now fighting UFC stle would some one like bruce Lee have a chance at all? has UFC type fighting made Kung Fu / Karate

obsolete??

Bruce Lee vs UFC fighters?
Wow, whats with everyone thinking Bruce Lee was only an actor? Really, there's a reason he's known as the number one most influential MARTIAL ARTIST of the 20th century. Above Royce Gracie, above Kazushi Sakuraba, above Mirko Cro Cop, above Ernesto Hoost, Anderson Silva, and even Yip Man, Mas Oyama, etc.

To rule him out simply because you think he was only an actor just shows that your parents must have been related and that obviuosly your the wannabe martial artist in the group. "Go on and play now Charlie, the adults are talking."

No he was not proven like others today are. However who here can honestly say that they actually could have had a chance against Bruce Lee when he was 28-30 years old? No one. Exactly. I haven't heard anything but good things about Bruce Lee from MMA guys, because those people along with REAL martial artists actually know what their talking about. Dana White, UFC president said that "Bruce Lee was the grandfather of mixed martial arts."

He might not have become a champ, but he sure as hell wouldn't haven't gotten murdered in the first few moments like some argue he would. Surely also if he competed in the 1960's and 1970's back when most everyone was still stuck within the box of a single style, he would have really been one hell of a fighter.
Reply:Excellent response What other people forgot or keep failing to mention is that bruce lee fought all the time. Before durning and after his movies. He always had a open invitation to anyone who wanted to challenge him to a fight and he never turned anybody down. Report It

Reply:correct. Lee fought a lot during his martial art %26amp; acting career. The fights were not 4 publicity. His school, Jeet Kune Do,is a combo of many styles-like MMA. Lee would EASILY dominate at 155lb wt/cl. Suggesting he would not be a good MMA fighter is clearly out of ignorance of his life %26amp; ability Report It

Reply:Bruce lee combined his style, Wing Chun with Boxing and Wrestling and Judo. So, I think he'd of done excellently in his weight class... which would be WEC, I don't think UFC has that light a category.
Reply:Bruce Lee was a great martial artist, but he was an actor, not a fighter.

Bruce Lee's athleticism alone would've made him a decent fighter, but that by itself is not enough against the well-round fighters.

Bruce Lee wouldn't have been able to compete in the UFC, he was too light (about 135lbs), the lightweight class is 155 lbs, and fighters cut weight from at least 165, so he would've faced guys much heavier than him.

He could've competed in other MMA organizations like WEC, as they have a 135 lb division.
Reply:Bruce Lee took what worked from anything he studied. (an argument can be made that he is the father of the modern mixed martial arts movement, but that's for another time)

If Bruce and MMA coexisted at the same moment in time, then Bruce surely would have learned from it, and it would have been the perfect venue for him to excel in.

Also, keep in mind that he was "challenged" often, and reputedly never lost (and these challenges weren't set up so that he only had to fight those in his weight class!). Is it far fetched to assume that he faced at least some grappling experts? (this seems to be the real issue when discussing whether Bruce Lee could have beaten modern MMA fighters)

The bottom line is he absolutely could have been a force to be reckoned with in the octagon.
Reply:Hahahaahahaha bruce lee would have had his little 130lb body handed to him.
Reply:You are all retarded, especially Frank the Tank. Bruce would have DESTROYED these guys....and he was a fighter in addition to being an actor.
Reply:i think bruce lee could actually fight as opposed to being just an actor, and his style was a blend of many so i think he would have been pretty effective, and besides he was smart enough that he would have adjusted to modern mma style ver quickly and would have ended up looking just like every other fighter out there within a year. and he would have to fight guys closer to his weight than the ufc has, maybe if they got a 130 lb division somewhere.
