Do Jehovah's Witnesses celebrate birthdays and pagan holidays? Also do you see hypocrisy in this organization?

Here is an example of what I am referring to:

A worldly person, obviously not one of Jehovah's Witnesses asked "My birthday is in 3 months, Can I get a star?"

A witness, though I am under the understanding that witnesses steer clear of the celebration of holidays, birthdays, %26amp; they also steer clear of "joking with the world and are to watch the type of jokes they laugh at/with", %26amp; witnesses are not supposed to endorse but steer clear of fighting clubs such as Judo, Karate, Kung Fu, etc., because these type clubs practice death moves and perpetuate violence that will kill another human being...right?

So the supposed witness responds to her almost immediately with this:

"I wanna see you get jump kicked by Chuck Norris", then later tries to cover it up and make excuses by stating "Oh, I wasn't serious", blah.

Aren't Jehovah's Witnesses not supposed to joke around with subjects that are supposedly opposed by God-I mean does anyone else see the hypocrisy in this organization?

Do Jehovah's Witnesses celebrate birthdays and pagan holidays? Also do you see hypocrisy in this organization?
Do we strive to follow the Bible and not participate in pagan things?? Yes. Do we celebrate Birthdays?? No. Are we perfect by any means?? No.

Now as for being a Witness, I personally only know, as far as I know, 1 Witness on here, ME.

Are their hypocrites in the world?? Sure. Sadly they exist most everywhere. Meanwhile, that is part of the reason for disiplinary procedures like disfellowshipping. Meanwhile one thing we are criticized for on here is disfellowshipping.
Reply:So are you Char or Adara? Report It

Reply:Jehovah witnesses do not celebrate anything but the Death of Christ. And yes I know that there is hypocrisy in that oraganization. People do not adhere easily to 'not celebrating'. I especially feel it at Chrismas. They act as if they don't care but they do care. I used to be a Jehovah witness but it lasted only a couple of months. I need joy in my life!
Reply:ive heard about that.. that Jehova's witnesses dont celebrate anything. kinda boring. but i dont know for a fact.. about hypocrites.. theyre not only in Jehova's witness.. they are everywhere.. all around the world. we even become hypocrites at times.. but yea.. is that you in your pic.. if so what happened?
Reply:HUH? Most people know why we don't celebrate birthdays and pagan holidays. Even if you heard one witness say: "I wanna see you get jump kicked by Chuck Norris," are you implying that they ALL talk like that?

So, what's your point?
Reply:I used to live next door to a family of JW's and they should of had their children removed from their care but never did....the father used to be yelling at the children at 2 and 3 in the morning about the bible ~ the children never went outside and were home schooled ~ AN THIS is supposed to be a better way of living??? Yeah Right!!~ Those kids grew up and left home at the first oppertuinity and got involved with drugs and were the problem of the whole town. The family was just plain creepy!!

Looks like your guy( avatar) got off better than a local aboriginal over here~ he was killed by a maniac police officer and this guy Mulrunji Doomagee, was not even drunk or breaking any law at the time!! The cop just had a superiority complex~ the cop was tried at the corroners request ~ and guess what?? He never got convicted ~ surprise surprise! And this cop~ Chris Hurley was retired with full honors! The system sucks here in Aus too my friend!

Reply:True we don't have a share in things of pagan origin.

We do celebrate, baby showers, weddings, anniversaries of such, graduations, baptism, and bar-B-q's are always Yumm~O!!!

It's wholesome gatherings we look for to attend.

EDIT:

I see no hypocrisy, what~so~ever; EVER.

I have been to Halls from Cali~Fla., and have Never seen, heard of, or experienced anything even remotely close.

To what u r trying to say.

Now, the man did say he was joking.

Whether, or not it was funny or not,

he already realizes the gravity of the situation.

And DID Apoligize, Already.

Personally,

I myself would like to offend some1 back

w/ a slap in the face, As They R Doing To Me.

When some1 that knows;

I don't do these Disgusting! things!,

says happy b-day, 2 me.

BUT, I Do Not!

it would NOT please my God, Jehovah

nor His Son Jesus, the example for me to follow.

{ And then of course, the person will say

"I thought ur a Jehovah's Witness?"

This (part) goes to all Christians.

That ppl think we are not human, not prone to mistakes,

we are not perfect, %26amp; yes, while we do work @ living our lives according to God's will. We do stumble. We do make mistakes. But a person who is not Christian,

will attempt to wash our face in it. All the while, saying

"I thought u r a Christian?" }

It's Outright %26amp; Downright, Rude %26amp; DisRespectful.

Being that the person Already knows me,

%26amp; that I don't do these things.

Is intentionally, trying to offend me or get a rise out of me.

It is So Obvious!! Sooo....

I just give them a 'look' %26amp; I say;

"I thought you loved me?,

Why would u say such a thing to me?"

If the person doesn't know me:

I tell the person, "No, Thank You, I do not involve myself in such wickedness." Or I say "No, thank you. I don't celebrate b-days." Or "No, thank you, we don't do that."

Kimmy, it's true 1 of our brothers was joking around,

%26amp; said that.

He posted a Q, here concerning the whole fiasco.

It was ummm.?...brb...it was JR.,

%26amp; he said he was only joking...in the comment.

2nd edit;

Champagne, I read the whole digusting story.

These men (%26amp; I use the word, lightly) ought to have done to them what they did to this young man. I was gonna ask, "what'd he do, get caught DWB?", but I read the story 1st. Have faith, Jehovah Will Repay!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

He is a God of Justice.

This Is Exactly Why I Don't Trust the Police!

I Don't.

And I have told them that to their face!

When my dghtr's b/f was taken in. They took her in for Q'ing. I know the law, a minor cannot b Q'ed w/out an attorney or a parent present. I told them to release her NOW. Of course they didn't, %26amp; told me bc of her age, (17) they were allowed lead way. "No, I told them YOU are Not, NOW, release her." Which of course, they didn't. And I told the 2 that were there w/ me %26amp; my husband, "this is why ppl, don't trust the police,

I don't know YOU, I don't know what kind of man u r; and I know that by law u r allowed to lie."

They said he was trying to break into the camera store, next door to the laundrymat, where they were doing their laundry. The kid was not; in fact, he was about to start a job as a computer programmer the very next day. Which of course, he lost the job. He was held for 30 days.

Got in front of the judge, the judge said

"what did he have on his person?"

Response~"a box of clorox 2"

judge~"release him"

End of the court side of this story.
Reply:I'd like to see the link where this person said that seeing the person getting jump-kicked. People tend to make things up.
Reply:OK do you know that this person was a witness. people can be anything on line. as for how you felt at kingdom halls well all people do dumb thing at times. you should not be at the kingdom hall for the people so much but more for Jehovah.
Reply:I am afraid that I do not understand your question at all. Exactly what is it, please, that you are asking?

Are you inquiring about celebrations? Or about joking? Or about hypocrisy? Or about jump kicks?

As you relate to us, one Witness desires to see you jump-kicked by Chuck Norris and you feel that this affords evidence upon which to infer that all 6.7 million Jehovah's Witnesses are full of hypocrisy? Do I understand that correctly?

Hannah J Paul
Reply:This is why some people hide their Q's and A's.No one wants to be nit-picked JW or not. Like Hannah and some of the others said you can't judge a whole religion or it's worshipers on one person that set an off the mark comment. JW's do hold them self to a higher standard but it doesn't make them perfect. I don't know what religion you are but what if someone said all ________ are like this because one acted this way, it's as bad as any other bias towards a group of people. It's funny to me how apostates will try to use any little thing they can find as their soapbox to say how much they hate Witnesses.

May Jah bless!
Reply:I have to say that Jehovah's Witnesses are imperfect humans, just like all the rest of the humans on this earth. Have I seen unchristian like behavior from some of them? In all honesty, yes. Have I ever behaved in an unchristian manner? Unfortunately, yes.

We are all imperfect and fall short of God's requirements from time to time, but as a whole, Jehovah's people try very hard to live up to the standards outlined in the Bible. And as a whole, Jehovah's Witnesses are known worldwide for the love and unity in their brotherhood. Your issue sounds to me more like a personality clash. The other thing is, you can find anything, including prejudice, real or imagined, if you look hard enough. I also am a firm believer that the congregation is what "you" make it. If you are prejudiced, guess what, you are going to find? If you are loving and warm, guess what you are going to receive?

But ultimately, as for me, I worship Jehovah, not people. It is my love for Jehovah that keeps me worshiping him. And as Psalms 130:3 brings out, "If errors were what you watch, O Jah, O Jehovah, who could stand?" Jehovah overlooks our errors, we should try to do the same of others. 1Peter 4:8- Above all things, have intense love for one another, because love covers a multitude of sins.
Reply:Yes, it is true that any who claim to worship the true God should stand out as different from the world around them because of doing their very best to live by bible principles. This does not mean that they are perfect or that they will not occasionally err. This is especially so in our use of words. James 3:2 says "For we all stumble many times. If anyone does not stumble in word, this one is a perfect man, able to bridle also his whole body."

Why is it that you see hypocrisy in an ebtire organizaton based upon one person (who may or may not be a Witness) who stumbled.

I studied the Bible once, with a woman whose husband was strongly opposed at first to her studying wiht us. Eventually he eased and even began litening in on her study, though not participating. He came to a few meetings and was amicable with other Witnesses he came in contact with. After a while I asked him what he thought about what his wife was learning. He said he believed it to be the truth. I was surprised. I asked if he too would like to study. He said no, he preferred to simply observe. He "observed" for quite some time. Meanwhile his wife symbolized her dedication When I asked again if he wanted to study, I got pretty much the same response. I asked "what is it you are looking for?" He said "to be honest, I am looking for faults" I have never forgotten that conversation because it opened my eyes to the fact that some look for flaws and faults despite knowing that this is the truth. Of course they will find them because each and every one of us is imperfect. We do our very best, but we still err. Thank's to the ransom sacrifice of Christ Jesus, we can be forgiven.
Reply:JWs are recognized as one of the leading cults. So I'm not at all suprised their org is rife with hypocrisy. He sounds very rude and immature.
